Blonde Roots by Bernardine Evaristo

I just finished reading Blonde Roots by Bernardine Evaristo. It was one of those books that you either immediately get into or cant finish. To me it was one that I read in a single sitting. I loved it. It was a role reversal of the slave trade. Instead of being taken from Afrika the slaves came from Europa. It was a story of
the life of the slave "Doris" renamed "Omorenomwara" by her slave master; it starts from her wanting to escape back to her family; after years in slavery. Throughout the book there are flashbacks to the past to when she was taken from her home, her first masters, her pain and her quest to freedom. Their was also a part of the book that was from the masters point of view as well.
It was written quite well and had parts that had you laughing, gasping, and crying. I honestly enjoyed it. In regards to the role reversals, it might have just been me but it was difficult when hearing about the travel in the ship and the treatment of the slaves to not picture what actually happened instead of the imaginary reversal of roles.

Highly Recommended.

So many movies so little time.

I have recently been blessed/cursed with no cable at my home. Cursed because sadly I have been missing episodes of my favorite shows blessed because it has given me the opportunity to go to Redbox and rent a bunch of movies.

Soon I'll take time to post all my new movie reviews.

Laughing So Hard :)

I finally had a chance to watch The Other Guys...Loved It! I love Mark Wahlberg's character it reminds me of so many short guys with big attitudes. Will Ferrell is just....Will Ferrell. This is the story of the guys sitting on the desks when the hot guys are out doing all the action fighting. I love the TLC references...made me go out and get all the songs from I Tunes. "Gator!!" I love "Gator!" and the faces Wahlberg makes are priceless.
Highly Recommended!

The beginning just has your mouth open with the thoughts of "What The...". Buy it Rent it Watch it!

James Patterson & Andrew Gross "The Jester"

I love James Patterson butttt sometimes he freaks me out. I love digging around thrift stores and finding books I have never seen. I found this book and reading the book description was interested. The only thing is that I was imagining a less gory book. It was a great tail, and reminded me alot of Braveheart (One of my TOP favorite movies), but for some reason I cant handle when they describe some scenes because they were VERY detailed. Its a adventurous and sad story about a man searching for his wife, Highly recommended.
