Batgirl at Superhero High

My daughter and i enjoyed listening to this story. It was a fun way for her to use her imagination. New for her since she was not used to audio books, but entertaining nontheless. The story is a fun action packed super girls storyline. If you know some of the original superheroes the teenage versions are super cute to hear about.

God Made You Nose to Toes

God made you nose to toes written by Leslie Parrott.

This is a beautiful children's book. A great way to introduce the idea of God to little ones. My three year old loved the rhymes and the artwork. She kept asking did God make this...all around the house. Great book for little ones and enjoyable to read. My one year old was excited because she would point at her own ears, and body as we read along.

Nourishing Meals

I was very excited to get my hands on this book. It is a great book for us, my daughter has a Peanut, Tree Nut allergy with a few more sprinkled around. For the recipes that called for use of her allergy food I easily just adapted it to use or omit the ingredient. I love the fact that there are many options in this book that gives me ideas of what she might enjoy. Finding meals that the whole family can enjoy and she can easily join in is great, not the same old same old we got used to.

This was a coming-of-age for an older generation. The main character goes through so much trying to figure out herself.

Dr. Georgia Young is a single, grandma, optometrist, and feels that she hasn't done what she wanted with her life. She goes through very big changes with friends, family and her love life. She  decides to change careers, look up old loves and hope that she finds new love soon.

This is another great McMillan book

Bat Dad by Blake Wilson

This is a cute quick read. I follow Batdad online and was excites to see he had a book out. If your looking for a deep book this is not it. It tells the quick story behind the mask in the beginning but the rest is just pictures of Batdad and his family and his Batdad comments. I did read it in the Batdad voice.

Spy Mom by Beth McMullen

I loved this book (s). It was so good I actually didn't sleep some nights just to finish it, since it was the only peaceful me time at home.

This book is about Lucy aka Sally Sin an ex-government secret agent now a stay at home mom. She thought it was all behind her other then her paranoia but low and behold her past comes back to her. Now she has to help weather she likes it or not to keep her new world at peace.

This book made me both laugh and feel the moments as a mom.

Belly Time

Well today is the day....the day my toddler innocently insulted me. I've noticed she has been laying on my belly and rubbing it. I assumed it was a comfort thing. Tonight before falling asleep she says and I quote "you have a baby mommy". So sweet my baby doll ... I said yep your sissy Mia.."no mommy in your belly". 😑
Time to start that diet lol. Too many prego people around and I really do not want a "mommy has a baby in her tummy too" moment.

Something to Food About by Questlove

This is one attractive book. In just seeing the cover you know its going to be filled with something interesting. Following questlove online I was not surprised to see he had a food book out.

This book is him exploring the art in food with chefs. He speaks to each chef and digs deep into their love for food and how they find it artistic. Some of the pictures show art is truly all around us. This is a great exploration which includes penty to read and beautifully captured pictures.

Some plates you see your like nope need more but you also need to see sometimes more is unnecessary when only a few pieces make something delicious.

The books cover is sleek and full of so many interesting details. Black page edges make this a visually appealing coffee table book.

It was a great read and hopefully he continues his exploration into the artistry of food.

Hope Unfolding by Beck Thompson

I am so thankful l that I had the opportunity to read this book. As a mommy to a 2 year old and a now 10 month old some days seem like pure chaos. When those small tiny hands, ask for hugs and kisses, it reminds me of the miracles my children are. This book not only emphasized what is important as a mother, it also allows you to remember your not just a mommy.

The author has done a great job, in my opinion, with those questions at the end of the chapters as well as the prayer that comes after. The book is a must read if you ever see yourself questioning your abilities as a mother, wife, and as yourself. Reading that yes I'm not the only one that has those "I can shop alone with the kids...nope." or have a pile of pintrest inspired DIY 's   with no beginning.

Great book and hit right at home for me. Thank you.

Book Review: Vinegar Girl by Anne Tyler

Book: Vinegar Girl
Author: Anne Tyler
Publisher: Hogarth an imprint of the Crown Publishing Group, a division of Penguin Random House LLC, NY
Format: Good Old Print
Pages: 235

I had the wonderful opportunity to read Vinegar Girl by Anne Tyler. It is a stated remaking of Taming of the Shrew.

The story revolves around Kate, a young woman who lives with her father and younger sister and whos life revolves around them. Her father is a scientist who works at a nearby college campus. His assistant Pyotr is in a pickle with immigration and her father comes up with a schme that involves Kate that will change her life completely.

The main thing that I dislike about this book is that it was a little to fast. I enjoyed reading it and was able to do so in one sitting but I would love to read the story with more detail in the "after". It does hold true and closes the story out without leaving much questions but I think it would be great for the author to have a how and when after the main event.

I love the fact that the title comes from an old saying " You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar." But, Why would you want to catch flies? I also enjoy the fact that the author kept the accent as written which makes you have to read it in an accent in your mind ( or at least I did).

This is a good retelling just wish there was more after the main event.

The Sorcery Code

Book Review

The Sorcery Code

Author: Dima Zales

The story revolves around a magician who against the rules accidentally creates a woman that can be used as a magical object. She does not want to live as a used object and he allows her to try living as a normal person. That doesn't go as planned. Its at these moments that the story moved a bit fast without really explaing (in my opinion) what was going on. His ex fiancee and her new beau do not make life any easier for him since he is out to gain power and she is still hurt by him creating a perfect woman in peoples eyes.

I had the opportunity to read The Sorcery Code which falls under the fantasy magical genre. I think that it is an interesting read but it may not get to the potential it needs. Some parts of the story leave you with questions. They may be answered in other books to come.

Buddy Quest

I had the opportunity to try out the game Buddy Quest. the game in itself is simple to play. The best part in my opinion is the fact that it gives kids a Real Life Goal and parents have to verify that they did it. The first one being, help clean up around the house. Honestly a change from the normal games for kids and for the better.

Book Review: Oasis, The Last Humans book 1,

I had a very enjoyable time reading The Last Humans Book 1 by Dima Zales. This book falls in the dystopian sociaty genre. The story revolves around Theo a "Youth" and his "Imaginary" friend Phoe. The society that Theo lives in has gotten everyone to be on the same page, until Phoe changes that for Theo and he begins to see and notice things that are not right. He starts to question alot and when the "Elders" notice they want to take action. Once the ball starts rolling Phoe must help Theo find answers, for herself and for him.

This is a fast paced book that you most likely will finish in one sitting. I really enjoyed the development of each character and the twists and turns the author creats leaves you wanting more.

I cant wait to get my hands on the rest of the books.

Review: Wine Aerator By Vino Aria

I had the pleasure of being able to review the Wine Aerator by Vino Aria. I am not a wine connoisseur, but it was sure fun using the aerator. This product is going to become a new favorite once my breastfeeding days are over. Very easy to use, slick in design, and a beautiful box to put away in.

I received this product for review at a discount, for my honest unbiased review.

Probiotics, Eczema, Allergies

Well today will start the new journey with Probiotics. My little love bug has been having major issues with eczema. Before I even continue with the prescribed steroid creams I have been on a hunt for a natural solution. So far I have tried a few creams, that for sure have no fragrances, and today I will test out the probiotics I purchased for her. I have this habit of trying any medicine she will take because I want to make sure they are safe for her.
I have on many occasions read that Probiotics may help me clean her from the inside out. This I feel might be a turning point into helping her heal.

Due to being uninformed, new parent, and trusting that doctor knows best. I was told she was too young to do an allergy test on. Her father has a few allergies and I was always worried but mainly on shellfish and things like that. Now as a 1 year old she would eat everything, after breastfeeding, I transitioned her into Coconut Milk than Almond Milk. Not wanting to deal with all the hormones in cows milk. We now have a Moms Organic market around the area with grass fed cow milk so lets see if that returns to the picture later on.  I was giving her almond milk not knowing she had allergies to tree-nuts and peanuts. When I was told this I felt horrible. I did not know but I still feel that I caused much of the issues she is having because her little body could not deal with it anymore. For now I am becoming much more educated and for 2 I am making sure she is getting tested early.

Today is the start to a new treatment. I will for sure keep updates on how the probiotics are helping.
